Tadao creates lighting feature for Mayfair

Tadao Ando’s first permanent project in the UK, a series of fountains that pour water over embedded lighting, will be built as part of a new landscaping plan outside the Connaught Hotel in London.

The Japanese architect’s design is part of a masterplan for Mayfair devised by the Danish architect Jan Gehl.

Speirs + Major wins massive mosque job

Speirs + Major has won a major lighting design contract working on a massive mosque and cultural centre in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
The practice – which is part of a team led by the centre’s designers, BIG architects – created the acclaimed lighting for the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi two years ago.
