Management team buys Channel Safety Systems

A management team has purchased emergency lighting manufacturer Channel Safety Systems for an undisclosed sum.

The team is made up three experienced lighting industry executives: Peter Mazalon, the former UK vice-president for Havells Sylvania UK; David Anderson, former managing director of Targetti Poulsen UK; and Barrie Channon, formerly MIS director Havells Sylvania Europe. Mazalon becomes managing director of the new operation, Anderson becomes commercial director and Channon finance director. The trio worked with private equity house Foresight Group to finance the purchase of the firm, which is based in Petersfield, Hampshire.

Channel employs 60 people at the premises and sells lighting equipment  worth £8.5 million every year.

‘We’re delighted to be part of this exciting opportunity to acquire the Channel organisation,’ Mazalon told Lux magazine. ‘Channel is a thriving, versatile business with a knowledgeable and highly experienced team.

‘We have a long term commitment to growth through customer expansion, as well as product and service innovation to secure and maintain it as a leading manufacturer and supplier of fire alarms, emergency lighting, as well as maintenance and commissioning services to the trade.’
