For sale: The house with 3,400 different light bulbs

(and they’re all different)

The perfect house for a lighting freak has just come on the market. The 46-room home has 3,400 lamps, all different from each other – and it’s being sold by, er, restaurant critic and Death Wish film director Michael Winner.

There’s also 168 light bulbs outside which were installed to deter burglars after the property was broken into 20 years ago.

But Winner admits the lighting maintenance is a major problem . ‘It costs me a fortune to have a man in to change them,’ he told the Sunday Times. ‘We paid £1,000 the other day.’

The property boasts 46 rooms, seven bathrooms, nine lavatories and a swimming pool and is on the market for £60 million.
