Bridgelux receives £9.4 million for LED development

LED manufacturer Bridgelux received about £9.4 million in financing to boost research and development.

The California-based company is to invest the funds in developing gallium nitride on silicon – GaN-on-Si, LED chip technology.

Bridgelux expects the solid-state lighting market to grow to over £15 billion in 2015, from less than £2 billion this year, Bridgelux chief Bill Watkins said in a statement.
