UKLED to make lamps in UK

Wirral-based specialist lighting manufacturer UKLED is transferring some production from China back to Merseyside after installing more sophisticated equipment at its Bromborough base

Production costs will be low enough to allow it to depend less on China and the firm plans to make an LED lamp to replace fluorescent tubes in the European market.

Staff numbers will rise from four to 12. Director Mike Parker said: ‘This is the first positive step towards maintaining our position in the market place.’
