Rajiv Goel, president of Sylvania, confirmed the news in a written statement issued today.

Goel said: ‘The traditional structure of a head of Europe has been under review for some time. In order to ensure closer integration between our European and Indian entities, it was agreed that this role has become redundant and we came to the mutual decision for Nick to leave the business.

‘We continue to be hugely supportive of the European teams and we are working closely with them to make sure that the business remains on its path, continuing to grow across Europe.’

Dave Ribbons will continue to head the company’s European sales function.
