Design Engineer/Mechanical Design Technician

Design Engineer

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Role: To design and support the development team on development projects and to ensure that new products developed meet the required specification and are completed within the time scales agreed.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• To develop, test and prove new and existing electronic products, including schematic, embedded code and PCB design

• To provide product documentation including PCB data, parts lists, installation leaflets and labels etc…

• To assist in diagnosis of customer returns and creation of fault reports • To assist in verification of new electronic parts and components

• To recognise and be pro-active within our Health & Safety, Quality, Investors in People and environmental standards

• To carry out any other task that may be reasonably required to assist in the efficient and profitable operation of the Company

Qualifications and personal requirements:

• To have proven experience of designing analogue and processor based electronic products for high volume production

• HNC Electronic Engineering and above

• To have proven experience creating and modifying both schematic diagrams and PCB layouts using CAD

• Experience within the lighting industry would be an advantage

• To be experienced working within a laboratory environment using a methodical/scientific approach

• To have the ability to produce accurate documents and reports for the public domain using Excel, Word etc…

• To be able to manage a variety of tasks and work to required deadlines

• To be self-motivated, resourceful and organised

• Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and be able to provide valid documentation

Mechanical Design Technician

Reporting to: Mechanical Design Engineer

Role: To Provide support to the Mechanical Design Engineer and Development team working to required time frames.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• To develop, test and prove new and existing electronic components using CAD • To provide product documentation including visualisations, 2D drawings, illustrations and parts lists etc…

• To work with new and existing suppliers to ensure components are created and developed accurately and on time

• To assist in the verification of new components and assemblies

• To recognise and be pro-active within our Health & Safety, Quality, Investors in People and environmental standards

• To carry out any other task that may be reasonably required to assist in the efficient and profitable operation of the company

Qualifications and personal requirements:

• HNC/HND in industrial design or similar discipline

• Full clean driving licence

• To have some experience of designing mechanical components using 3D modelling and CAD

• To have some experience creating and modifying visualisations, 2D drawings, illustrations and parts lists etc…

• To have reasonable knowledge of materials used in moulding and fabricating processes, including their benefits and limitations

• To have an enthusiastic approach to problem solving

• To have the ability to produce accurate documents and reports for the public domain using Excel, Word etc…

• Able to manage a variety of tasks and work to required deadlines

• To be self-motivated, resourceful and organised

• Experience within the lighting industry would be an advantage
